Our charter experience with Paul was outstanding. Paul is personable and highly knowledgeable in sailing and in Canadian history. He included us in trimming sails and steering the boat which was fun. Our 5 day liveaboard course with Big Blue Sailing was just great. The boat was comfortable and great to sail, we both learned a ton, on board food was tasty and plentiful, and our instructor, Paul, was friendly, relaxed, and fun to hang out with. We've known Paul & Leslie for many years, but only recently had the opportunity to sail with them in Greece. We had an amazing 6 days & 7 nights sailing the Saronic Sea with Paul! He gave each of us the chance to participate in the sailing and mooring of the boat, and we stopped at some amazing places.

My husband and I completed the 2 day keelboat sailing course in September, intended as a refresher after not sailing for several years. Paul is a very knowledgeable instructor and experienced sailor, and his utmost priority is everyone's safety on board. He is an excellent patient teacher, and explains everything in detail, with some interesting historical context. We had a great time on board with Paul and the group, polishing up on our skills and learning new ones. Myself and my partner completed the five day Sail Canada basic cruising standard course with Paul. He is definitely deserving of his five star rating. We found him to be an incredibly calm, laid-back, knowledgeable, experienced, and highly responsive instructor. He never hesitated to take extra time in explanations. The overall experience was definitively superb. I would rate him an excellent instructor. We found Paul and Big Blue Sailing through a recommendation from another couple who had also taken sailing lessons from him. We too, would not hesitate to recommend to others to lean on Paul as a sailing instructor. We had an unforgettable 5-day sailing trip with Big Blue Sailing and Captain Paul towards the end of August 2024. From start to finish, Paul went above and beyond to make our journey through the Gulf Islands seamless and special. He customized the itinerary to suit our family, my wife, son, and parents and made sure everyone was comfortable and engaged.

Paul not only captained the boat with skill and care, but also thoughtfully provisioned and cooked delicious meals for us, allowing us to fully relax and soak in the beauty around us. His local knowledge, calm energy, and attention to detail made the entire experience truly exceptional.
